Here is a bit more information regarding the governor’s “Digital Textbook Initiative” mentioned earlier. This sounds like a step forward in education, and a real positive impact could be had, given the content downloaded and presented is not crippled or hindered in any way. What would be very nice is for teachers and/or school boards to be able to download any text/content they would want into these books, to allow a much wider variety of study material to be used than just from digital e-book providers. For example, let’s say you find a website that has a lot of great information on a lesson you are currently teaching in your class. It would be nice to be able to download a copy of that website (text/pictures/video) into your students’ e-books to allow them to study that material as well. Hopefully the future will prove to be an open one!
