Going Green: What You Can Do

Posted by Jordan Erickson

These days, you can’t hop in your car, turn on your TV, get online or even shop for groceries without hearing or seeing something about ‘going green’. It has quickly become commonplace for businesses and homes alike to practice better energy efficiency, waste reduction and air quality management with everything we do.

And for good reason – our global economy has created a world-wide community – and we should start looking after each other. Toys made in China can affect the quality of life in Europe, pesticides used in Argentina can affect the health of people in the U.S., and greenhouse gas emissions from Australia can affect a diminishing rainforest in Brazil. The real truth is that everything each one of us does effects our planet, from turning on our lights in the morning, to driving to and from work, to choosing which foods our families will eat every day. With a little education and motivation, we can easily reduce energy consumption and waste materials, while, at the same time, padding our bank accounts with what we save. Perhaps the most important benefit of going green, however, is that we are providing future generations with a cleaner, greener planet. We owe it to ourselves, our children and our planet to conserve the precious resources available to us.
