Today, the Mozilla Foundation (supporters of the popular Firefox web browser and Thunderbird E-Mail client) released version 0.5 of their open-source calendaring software, called Sunbird.
I have been using Sunbird for over a year now, and have been very pleased. It “just works”. A little known fact about Sunbird is that it has shared calendaring functionality, which allows you and your co-workers to easily publish, subscribe and view multiple calendars on a company’s server, all using free, open-source software. In my professional experience, it provides all of the stability, functionality and ease of use that Outlook/Exchange users enjoy.
Oh, I almost forgot to mention – it’s free.
This new version boasts much improved usability and functionality, Google Calendar interoperability, a new, polished look, and much more (view their release notes at http://www.mozilla.org/projects/calendar/releases/sunbird0.5.html ).
Happy calendaring!
