Why I’m doing this!

Posted by Jordan Erickson

I’m your cookie-cutter tech junkie. I’ve been fascinated with computers and technology since I was 5 (I’m 25 now) when my dad first introduced me to the family Commodore 64 computer (remember those?). I would sit in front of our TV set (you normally hooked those things into your TV, believe it or not!) and not only play video games, but I would sit and read the C-Basic programming manual with my older brother and learn how to make basic programs.

When I would get into trouble with my brother and/or sister, my dad would sometimes unhook the computer and put it away under his bed. I would be devistated, and remember laying down in my parents’ room, reading the side of the box it came in over and over, thinking of how great it would be when he hooked it back up.

Of course, I’m grown up now, and even if I get in trouble, I won’t get my computer taken away. 😉 Computers have always been a big part of my life, and I’ve always pushed myself to learn new and exciting things about them. My true fascination lies with network and Internet security, but I will always be very interested in hardware, software, and basically anything else that has to do with computers.

I feel very fortunate that I own my own business doing what I love to do. Not only do I get to help other businesses with their technology, I feel like I’m almost cheating because it’s so much fun. Right now, I’m developing a network-wide antivirus and anti-spyware server, which will help business networks stay on top of current threats to their computers. It will be a totally managed solution, with a leased server from LNS and industry leading software to manage and protect business networks from the malware (virii, spyware, adware, trojan horses, etc.) that all too often infect people’s computers. I’m also thinking about incorporating a network-wide backup and remote access solution, given as options when leasing the server. I’m hoping for it to be a big success!

I am starting to offer free company blogs to local businesses in Sonoma County. This is one thing I really want to do to give back to the business community that has supported me from when I started LNS. If you’re reading this, and you are part of a company residing in Sonoma County, e-mail me at jerickson@logicalnetworking.net and let me know that you want a company blog. It’s a fantastic way to promote your business, and keep your customers informed about what’s going on on a day to day basis (see my blog in the “Welcome” category for more details).

Enough for now!! Hope to hear from you all soon!
